超越生命的幻象

                       --张建的摄影艺术

  第一次观赏张建先生的作品,就一下被带进了一个崭新的陌生影像时空里。感觉很新奇,很震憾!这些无休止的生命图像仿佛是以一种超然、冷静、克制的情绪来诠释和宣泄出的音乐,它是随想曲、协奏曲或是交响曲……时而美妙动人,时而哀伤温婉,时而朴素愉悦,时而又那么清绝绮丽!

  它们仿佛是在意念与幻觉的汪洋中、在宇宙深处、在天穹周边或明暗交替的心灵中才能得以捕捉、曝光、定格、拓印出的爱与绝望的歌吟……

  这种形式令我激赏并喜爱。我不否决摄影的纪实性,甚至对其始终津津乐道。但在纪实性影像统领天下的今天,张建先生这样的摄影艺术思维一定令人心动而好奇。这些谜一样的色彩,超越了人们的视觉感知,它通过作者兢兢业业的工作,内心的解构与再制作,通过色彩形状以及韵律的图形设计等,表达出了关于自然与生命独特而丰沛的意念。这样的画面特别自由洒脱,它暂时摒弃了客观现实,进而追求主观的绝对自由与真实。这是对客观真实更高意境的思考,其与中国传统审美情趣异曲同工。有如中国传统绘画中的写意。所以我觉得张建先生的抽象影像反而能够深刻地引发人们对摄影艺术真实性的再思考。

  他的影像是多彩而有趣的。有时,在一面凹凸无序的画面中,会蜿蜒伸展出一道斑驳的翠绿,其间隐蔽着无数跳跃而灵动的笔触和恣飏不羈的气息;有时,大风中,枝桠和旷原的影子在梦的长镜头中舞蹈,阳光穿透沙曼卷曲伸缩的速率,使我们在回忆与流失的纪年中把这些不可思议的图像认定为就是我们生命里最贴切的觉察或杂芜……

  同时我以为,张建在这样画面的处理上,已然涵括了抽象绘画所有的线条、构图规律、色彩关系和气韵。这是无意间对架上绘画的一次竞逐和对自身生命体悟的一种超度。此时此刻,影像这个介质忽然虚化,后退到色彩与线条所包含的即兴性和精神性上。任何一个物质,其所包含的精神会在特定的情境和逻辑中呈现出来,这是艺术的意义,也是我们生命存在的根本。我理解,张建先生一直都在寻找,他的作品时而远离这个答案,有时又在逼近这个答案。

  我爱这样的图像。它的光彩和影像是那么神奇,唤醒甚至震撼人们的心灵。这里表达的情绪与情感,拍摄者与观赏者又可以分别去自由的想象。我觉得真情实感的体验是理解和诠释这些作品唯一的途径。他给予我们了各种新的可能。观看这样的抽象艺术作品大可以像观赏中国传统绘画一样,往返巡目。这既是对旧的视觉习惯的挑战,也是对生命多维世界全新的体验和自觉。张建先生的影像艺术,既是生命的觉悟与洞察,也是对时空的回力与顺应。在美的色彩与诗意的氤氲下,大地上无穷无尽的风景经由我们丰富而敏感的内心传递给更多的人,这是超越艺术与生命的顿悟。

在此文的结尾,我想引用已故的著名的抽象艺术巨匠赵无极老先生的两句话为张建先生的影像精神做一个概括:

  “我以为所有艺术家的作品,对自己都是具象的,对别人而言才是抽象的。”

  “在诗中,我最欣赏那种在词句之间遨游的自由感觉。每个词在统一的整体中找到它的位置,随之再融入整体,在那裡无忧无虑的漫步、停止、倒退和呼吸。我们也会在某一点上顿住,那是寧静美妙的时刻,一如画中的空白......”

 

The Illusion Beyond Life

The first time I appreciated Mr. Zhang’ photographic works ,I was immediately transported to an unknown and brand-new image space. It’s really breathtaking! These life images compose a song with aloof, calm and restrained emotions which could be a piece of caprice, concerto or symphony, and the tune sometimes cheerful or disconsolate with gentle atmosphere, sometimes clear and sweet, sometimes simple but pleasant.

These photographs are captured, exposed and framed with the inspirations as if from the sea of ideas and illusions or from the deep space or the edge of skyland. It even looks as if from the penumbra to rub a song of love and despair......

I’m greatly appreciative of this photographic pattern. Although I do not reject and even take delight in talking about documentary photography, I’m excited and curious of Mr. Zhang’s thinking in photographic art under the present dominance of documentary photography. Mr.Zhang has painstakingly and consciously employed the

the deployment of colors and shapes in his photographs which went far beyond the visual perception. These photographs strongly express Mr. Zhang’s distinctive and rich perspective in nature and life. With temporary abandon of objective reality, Mr. Zhang’s works are full of freedom and wildness in pursuit of an absolute liberty and truth. This photographic method echoes the Chinese traditional aesthetic taste, which looks like the freehand brushwork in traditional Chinese painting. Mr. Zhang’s abstract photograph is a higher level of thinking on objective authenticity and, in my view,can deeply arouse the public to engage in rethinking of photographic reality .

Mr. Zhang’s photographs are colorful and interesting. Sometimes, there is a streak of mottled jade green stretching on a bumpy and disorder image where there hides a myriad of bouncing and dancing strokes to demonstrate an unrestrained breath. Sometimes, the branches and the shadow of vast land dance with wind in the long shot, and the tempo of the sunlight crossing and curling through the gauze curtain. These incredible images help viewers get the most appropriate perception about life when time passed and memories left .

Meanwhile I guess when the photographer dealt with images sizing all the lines, rules of composition, color relations and spiritual resonance of abstract painting which, by accident, expresses an attitude on competing to the traditional painting and transcending of own sprit. At this moment, the medium of the image became blurring and receded to the improvisation and spirituality of colors and lines. The meaning of art is the presentation of any materials’ spirit in specific circumstances and logic. I can understand that Mr. Zhang is always looking for the key to the meaning of art,and sometimes it approaches but sometimes it slides off. 

I love those photographs. Their colors and images are so amazing that can awaken and shaken viewers’ heart. Photographers and viewers can freely feel the emotions of the photographs in their own way. I think the only way to understand these photographs is to appreciate with true sensation. Those works give viewers all sorts of new possibilities. While viewing these abstract photographs,viewers can move their eyes around on them back and forth just the same as the way of appreciating the traditional Chinese paintings. Viewers can acquire a brand-new experience about life and the multi-dimensional world from those photos. Mr. Zhang’s photographic art is an awareness of life and adaptation to the time space. The process that varies natural scenery were captured by sentimental photographers and then were furnished with beautiful color and poetic,at last passing to more and more people is the enlightenment beyond art and life.

At the end of this article, I want to quote the saying from the latest

 abstract art master Zao Wouki to conclude Mr.Zhang’s creative spirit: “I think all the artists’ works are figurative for themselves and abstract for the others.”

   “Roaming freely in the sea of words in poems brings me satisfaction. Every word finds their own place and then blends in the unified whole and rambling, pausing, going backwards and breathing there. Sometimes, we pause suddenly in our life and enjoy the quiet and wonderful moment, just like we appreciate the blank of the painting……..”
